Passages -- Looking Back

Passages December -- Happy Holidays and New Year to you! Passages continued our mission in December with a very short holiday break. From youth looking for a safe space to socialize to those in need of shelter, our mission remains critical to metro KC LGBT youth. As 2012 drew to a close we spent time looking ahead to 2013. Checkout the January Camp Magazine article from one of our board members on what 2013 and the future holds for Passages. We are also excited to have the KC Free Health Clinic, now KC CARE clinic, at Passages on 5th Wednesdays starting in May! And, we're in discussions with the Out, Proud, and Healthy in Missouri project to potentially bring smoking cessation support to Passages in 2013. To continue our vital mission, your support is critical. To learn more about how you can support LGBT youth in KC, see the right column or refer to www.kcpassages.org.

What is Passages?

Passages is the Kansas City metro's only youth center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersexed, and Ally youth (LGBTQIA) and is a 501c3 charitable organization. Operating now for 22 years, Passages offers a safe, hate-free, drug-free environment for youth aged 14-20 on Wednesday and Saturday nights. Our volunteers are LGBT community members with diverse personal and professional backgrounds willing to share our experiences. Moreover, Passages has a wealth of unique resources, such as: our computer lab with filtered 'net access, an LGBT-focused library of books and current periodicals, health and clinic materials / referrals, access to partnering organizations to assist with at-risk situations (homelessness, hunger, abuse, etc.). We are operated exclusively by volunteers and supported by community donations.
